HEY

It's been a few months and we've been slowly updating Friend Collector over the months when we've found time to do so! We actually added a little preview trailer (as seen above) to the page that showcases the latest build :)

Majority of the bugs previously known + reported have been fixed! Alongside this, certain features have been expanded or improved upon, particularly controls and gameplay loop. Just making a post to inform of some of these new features!

2 New Control Schemes

The controls of the game have been reworked after feedback from various people both new to rhythm games and experienced. The keyboard especially is much more comfortable to play on and requires minimal movement of the hands. The difference in control schemes is purely on preference but control scheme B retains the old control scheme for the Controller, but keyboard controls are entirely refreshed.

Reworked Upgrade Menu/Shop

You can now buy lures individually/separately. Alongside this change you can now purchase items called Snacks which push the odds in your favour of catching certain Rarities: Shiny (Rare), Silver (Ultra Rare), Golden (Legend). Additionally there is another option called Petal which will double the value of your next catch. These new options will lock your purchases for that round and be consumed upon your next catch.

We're going to implement a tutorial stage to ease players into the gameplay loop better as we found feedback on difficulty challenging to gauge, as some players found it overly difficult whilst others picked it up fairly quickly. The reality is the game was designed for people who already had a grip on the controls, and so hopefully by implementing a way to ease players into the game, the standard level of challenge won't be as intimidating! We will still tweak difficulty on charts and possibly add more control over difficulty such as level of punishment for missed notes, or chart density but that's lower priority.

We don't know when this patch will be complete/published as we are both juggling several projects and more stuff in our personal lives but we hope to complete it eventually! If you have any thoughts then please leave a comment! :)
